Examples of Obi uses for Interior Design

Examples of Obi uses for Interior Design.

  • Here are various example of uses for obi and obi textiles as interior design applications. The obi themselves make fabulous wall displays, Adult ones as long hangings and pre-tied ones, such as girls' obi or many pre-tied women's obi , mounted on simple boards.
  • They also make exquisite table runners and bed runners.
  • If not used as a hanging, the textiles can be used to make other items including gorgeous cushions. Obi are extremely long and provide a lot of fabric.
  • Note that maru and fukuru obi provide the most fabric for such uses, as thay are the wide and the same width from end to end, whereas nagoya obi have a long section of their length stitched in half, as the sash section, with a smaller section at full width for the rear knot section. Some fukuro obi have an unpatterned section, some are patterned along their entire length.
  • Hanhaba obi are narrower than Maru and fukuro obi.
  • There is a big selection of obi available in the Obi section of this website, in a big variety of patterns and colours. Now and then I add one or two more.
